BIFA Regional Members Meeting – Solent
Join us and our external guest speakers for updates on the key local and national issues that are impacting your business. This meeting is a great opportunity for you to share your views on these topics with fellow members and the BIFA team.
The agenda will cover:
Updates from Kelly Scott, Principal Port Health Officer for Southampton, on current Health activities and developments at the Port.
Andy Cooke, BIFA’s External Affairs Consultant, will run a session on the re-development of the Heathrow cargo facilities project:
- outcomes and decisions from the workshops recently held with the Transit Sheds and Hauliers
- the Freight Forwarders workshop is planned for the last week of March: the objectives and details of this workshop will be presented, and members will be asked to give their views and ideas to ensure all relevant areas are covered
- the rollout of the AIS and how this is impacting landside efficiency.
Rail Update: Steve Freemen, Board member of the Rail Freight Group and Chairman of RailX, will present the new features of RAILX, the digital platform and train booking App, which enables end to end visibility
South Hampshire College Group will share the latest government funded training opportunities and how we plan to have freight forwarding included in the curriculum for general business-based courses.
We will have updates from the BIFA team covering:
- Ocean, Rail and Road Policy Group updates including all the Solent Ports, London Gateway and Felixstowe Port activities and developments
- New! BIFA AI Working Group: how BIFA is planning to advise members on the impact and adoption of AI across their business (not just Customs).
- Customs, including the Low Value Import Changes consultation with HMRC
- BIFA government lobbying: the key issues that BIFA are raising with government departments on behalf of our members
- Sustainability: regulatory updates & sustainability news impacting our sector
- New BIFA bitesize e learning: 6 new modules
- Solent Young Forwarders Network: new Port tours available
Attendees will have an opportunity for a two-way dialogue between members and the Association and to raise issues of concern or interest.
