One of BIFA’s main roles is to ensure that Member views are reflected at national and international level to government, other non-government bodies and where appropriate, other trade bodies.
All Members benefit from our representation, and many are engaged in our Policy Group activities; where their views are formulated into policy to be presented to government.
BIFA also facilitates Policy Group meetings with government officials allowing Members to effectively express their views. Members are also urged to engage with BIFA through the regularly attendance of its regional meetings facilitated by their regional consultants.
Visit our Events section for details of our upcoming Member events.
Our interactions are with key government departments such as:
– HMRC (His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs)
– The Cabinet Office
– DfT (The Department for Transport)
– The Home Office
– DEFRA (The Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs)
– DIT (The Department for International Trade) and
– DBEIS (the Department for Business, Energy, Industry and Skills).
Global representation is undertaken via BIFA’s membership of regional and international trade bodies. Although the UK is no longer an EU Member, BIFA is still an active member of CLECAT which enables the views of our members to be heard by other European freight forwarder associations. At a global level, BIFA’s membership of FIATA ensures that Members’ views are heard in all its institutions, including IATA.
Our members are actively encouraged to share their views on a range of industry topics through the participation of surveys and consultations. The outcomes of those opportunities can be found within our Information and Guidance section which is accessible when Members log into their BIFA account.
Through their online accounts, Members also gain exclusive access to a variety of resources to help them navigate changes in Government policies and trade procedures.
