SUMMARY:BIFA YFN - Anglia Region - Failing Forward\, Lessons for Success
DESCRIPTION:Failing Forward\, Lessons for Success \nThe next BIFA YFN Anglia region event will take place on Wednesday 21st May\, 1515\, at Suffolk New College in Ipswich\, when our guest speaker will be Jon Swallow\, founder and chief executive of Jordan Freight. \nJon\, who is an employer governor of the Young Forwarder Network\, left school at 16 and bailing on college\, started a Youth Training Scheme as a dock runner\, then tried customs\, seafreight and finally settled in European transport… or so he thought. Sometimes your career goals just don’t materialise. \nIn 1999 Jon started Jordon Freight with his business partner Roddy.  Despite a very difficult start and subsequent near catastrophes\, the company is now in its 25th year and continues to grow. \nDuring the event\, Jon will explain how the setbacks he faced were not failures as they appeared at the time\, but looking back\, vital lessons for success in disguise. And now\, faced with the continual challenges of a growing company\, he reframes failure and setbacks much quicker as something positive. \nIf sometimes you don’t feel confident to go after what you want for fear of failure or have failed hard in the past and felt its effects long after\, Jon hopes to offer some insights on how to position failure not as a final event\, but as the path to success. By staying in the game\, you are sure to win! \nRegister now\, don’t miss out on this unique networking event\, we hope to see you there! \n  \nAgenda: \n1515    Arrival & registration \n1545    Welcome and YFN Overview \n1550    Networking \n1600    Presentation from guest speaker\, Jon Swallow \n1630    Q&A \n1645    BIFA Update \n1700    Networking \n1730    Close \n  \nDrinks will be available at the college. Continue networking afterwards at a nearby bar – first round is on us! \nThe BIFA Young Forwarder Network events provide a fantastic opportunity to network and build lasting relationships with fellow members. \nPlaces are limited so secure your place via Eventbrite HERE and don’t forget to save this event in your calendar. \n

SUMMARY:LAUNCH EVENT - New BIFA Advisory Body for Heathrow Matters
DESCRIPTION:Working closely with BT\, BIFA is proud to announce the formation of a new advisory body focussing on the modernisation of freight systems which facilitate the sharing of information amongst the key stakeholders. The group will also work with Heathrow Airport to represent the freight forwarding community in discussions around the development of the Heathrow cargo centre widely known as the ‘Horseshoe’. \nThe group will support the industry through the massive changes planned for the airport’s cargo terminal. This 8–10-year project is going to take some effort and BIFA is at the heart of the change. \nIf you are interested in finding out more about the advisory body with a view to taking part in this project\, join us at the launch meeting to be held on Tuesday 29th April 10.00am – 2 pm at the BT Tower\, London. \nWho can attend this event? \nThis event is for BIFA members using Heathrow Airport cargo facilities. Attendees should have an in-depth understanding of the current flow of cargo and data\, and be able to contribute to the ongoing development of AIS and the redevelopment of the cargo area. \nCan I bring a colleague? \nEach person wishing to attend the event should register individually. In order to allow as many BIFA member companies to be represented\, please limit registrations to a maximum of 2 per company. \nWhat should I bring with me? \nAccess to the BT Tower is security controlled. You will need to bring your passport on the day. \n  \nRegister HERE to join us at this meeting if you can commit to helping BIFA and our industry shape the forwarder-airline-airport interface. \nDue to BT Tower security requirements\, registration to attend this meeting will close at 12-noon on Friday 25th April.
