SUMMARY:BIFA Webinar - Introducing the 2025 BIFA Standard Trading Conditions
DESCRIPTION:In view of the changing nature of the business activities of many BIFA members\, BIFA conducted a thorough review of its Standard Trading Conditions (STC) during the first half of 2025. In addition\, the recent legislative changes stemming from the UK leaving the European Union and increasing friction in global trade have necessitated a number of amendments. \nThe review was led by BIFA’s Legal and Insurance Policy Group in consultation with solicitors\, insurers and the wider BIFA Membership.  The review resulted in the biggest re-write of the BIFA STC since they were originally published in 1988.  In this webinar\, Robert Windsor will present the 2025 conditions to Members\, pointing out the most significant changes to the wording of clauses and the potential impacts on Members’ business. \nThe new conditions will be the only valid BIFA STC after 31 December 2025. Members will be reminded that the STC must be properly incorporated into all customer contracts in order that the member benefits from the protections offered and that the new terms must be brought to the attention of all existing customers. Insurers and any overseas agents must also be advised of the switch to the new set of conditions. \nCopies of all relevant documents relating to the re-written STC are available on the BIFA website. \nREGISTER HERE to join the webinar. \n

SUMMARY:BIFA Member Webinar - Low Value Import Changes - HMRC Engagement Session
DESCRIPTION:HMRC invites Members to meet the HMRC Low Value Import Policy team \nIn November 2025\, the Chancellor announced at the Budget that the government will remove the de minimis duty relief on low-value imports from March 2029 at the latest. At the same time\, a consultation was launched to seek views on the technical details of implementation. \nYou may have an interest in this consultation\, and HMRC would welcome the opportunity to speak with you \nIt is important for HMRC and HMT to fully understand your views and the potential impacts of the reforms on businesses as they continue to develop the policy \nBefore attending this event it is suggested that you view the HM Treasury and HM Revenue and Customs recording of the consultation launch event for interested stakeholders held on 4 December 2025. SUMMARY:BIFA Member Webinar - Implementation of the 2025 BIFA Standard Trading Conditions (STC)
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to join a BIFA webinar to be held on the 21st of May 2026 at 12.00 hours via Teams to discuss the implementation of the 2025 edition of the STC. \nSince their implementation on 1st January this year\, the Association has monitored questions from Members relating to the new 2025 STC.  There have been relatively few regarding the technical aspects of the re-write.  However\, we have received a significant number of questions regarding what incorporation means and how to achieve it.  For instance most Members have email signatures which refer to the fact that they trade under the BIFA STC\, legal opinion is that more clarity is required to ensure that the terms are “incorporated” into the contractual arrangements between the BIFA Member and their customer. It is these practical points that we wish to explore in more detail. \nThe webinar will examine in some detail: \n•  The reasons why BIFA Members should use the STC\n•  How to incorporate the terms into their trading relationship with their clients\n•  Review and explain the main changes between the 2021 and 2025 edition of the STC \nThe event will last approximately an hour and\, if there is time\, questions will be answered.  Any attendee would benefit with familiarising themselves with the text of the STC and supporting guidance which can be viewed at https://dev.bifa.org/information-guidance/trading-conditions/bifa-standard-trading-conditions-2025/ \nREGISTER TODAY\n
