BIFA Regional Members Meeting – Gatwick

March 19 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

New venue: Astral Towers, Freedom Works, Betts Way, Crawley, RH10 9UY. Parking is free: approach the barrier at the carpark and then let them know via intercom that you are there for Freedom Works.

Join us and our external guest speakers for updates on the key local and national issues that are impacting your business. This meeting is a great opportunity for you to share your views on these topics with fellow members and the BIFA team.

 

External Speaker Topics

Tim Norwood, Gatwick Airport Chief Planning Officer and Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability will present the plans for Gatwick cargo expansion.
• Discussion: how to constructively plan and implement cargo infrastructure, operations and landside slot booking to enable the forecast cargo growth opportunities from the Northern Runway Extension to be achieved.
• Set up a BIFA/Gatwick working group to enable the growth plans.

Jeremy Taylor Managing Director of The Company Connector will update the meeting with information on the newly formed All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for the Southeast & the Gatwick Growth Gateway.

Andy Cooke, BIFA’s External Affairs Consultant, will brief the meeting on the re-development of the Heathrow cargo facilities project:
• structure and governance of the Advisory body
• outcomes and decisions from the workshops recently held with the Transit Sheds and Hauliers
• the Freight Forwarders workshop is planned for April: the objectives and details will be presented

 

We will have updates from the BIFA team:

• BIFA government lobbying: the key issues that BIFA are raising with government departments on behalf of our members
• Customs, including the Low Value Import Changes consultation with HMRC
• Legal updates and quick reminder about the 2025 edition of BIFA’s Standard Trading Conditions
• Ocean, Rail and Road Policy Group updates including all the Solent Ports, London Gateway and Felixstowe Port activities and developments
• Sustainability: regulatory updates & sustainability news impacting our sector
• New! BIFA AI Working Group: how BIFA is planning to advise members on the impact and adoption of AI across their business (not just Customs).
• New BIFA bitesize e learning: 6 new modules
• Training and future Member Events.
